#GiveCopperCountry is LIVE!
The market scene in the Keweenaw has grown by leaps and bounds, and the FTG community is no exception!
We’ve seen staggering increases in spending at our Houghton, Hancock, and Calumet markets and that’s a credit to the combined efforts of vendors, our volunteer board, and our seasonal staff across the years! As markets, vendor numbers, offerings, and community outreach grows, so does our needs. From simple safety-funds for tents and tables to more ambitious Keweenaw food access outreach, your patronage and financial support means the world to us.
This season of Copper Shore’s #GiveCopperCountry, we are humbly asking for financial support from the community that loves its markets. Through Copper Shores’ Amplification Fund, Copper Shores will add an additional match to From the Ground Farmers Market Collective. For more details, click here.
As we dream big for our organization, here are some of the ways your financial contributions can aid our work:
Supporting Local Food Access and Economic Growth: From the Ground Farmers Market Collective champions local farmers and producers, creating a thriving marketplace that directly supports the regional economy by keeping local dollars local. By donating, supporters help ensure that local growers and small-scale artisans have the resources and opportunities to succeed, keeping dollars within the community.
Increasing Food Security: Contributions through Giving Tuesday allow us to improve access to fresh, nutritious food for all residents, including those facing financial challenges. The funds help cover costs for facilitating food assistance programs, making fresh tasty food more accessible to everyone, regardless of income level.
Building a Resilient Community: The Farmers Market Collective is more than a marketplace; it’s a community hub. Donations help us foster connections between local residents, farmers, and artisans, creating a resilient food network that contributes to food sovereignty and self-sufficiency in the region.
Educational Programming and Events: With Giving Tuesday support, we can expand educational events on topics like sustainable agriculture, cooking, nutrition, and food preservation. These programs empower individuals to make informed choices about their food and build skills that enhance self-reliance.
Supporting Year-Round Operations and Growth: Our markets extend beyond summer, with a cool-season market, vendor training, food access program application, infrastructure planning and development, and connecting our vendors with institutional buyers. Donations help us invest in seasonal markets, maintaining market spaces and expanding our reach to more residents.
