FTG is part of #GiveCopperCountry!
From the Ground Farmers Market Collective is excited and honored to have been selected as a recipient of Copper Shore’s GivingTuesday #GiveCopperCountry event! This community-driven fundraising effort had been supporting qualified non-profits in Baraga, Houghton, Keweenaw, and Ontonagon counties since 2017. Donations made through their website November 12-December 3 will also be matched by Copper Shores through their newly launched Amplification Fund.
This period of generous giving is a perfect way for you to support the efforts of From the Ground Farmers Market Collective. If you’re a loyal patron of the Houghton, Hancock, and Calumet markets throughout the summer and cold seasons, you’ve seen firsthand the wonderful growth we’ve seen in vendors and patronage. Food access in the Western UP is our highest mission point, and the farmers markets have been our initial starting point. We’ve been able to help our markets facilitate local and state-wide food access programs, which year over year has increased in usage in the Keweenaw community. As of this writing, our markets have facilitated the transaction of $37,498 in food access monies.
This means that more fresh, local food is going onto Keweenaw plates. It means more money to farmers, bakers, and chefs. It means stable support and outreach on behalf of our vending community and our patrons. Supporting From the Ground is a gift back to our vendors and our communities.
